Jak Drang is the proprietor of Jak's Anvil. A modestly talented smith, Jak creates study but plain weapons for the locals. Jak dreams of one day creating fantastic weapons for heroes but he has not been able to successfully create any.

Bern Goldspell is a short, obsequious man in his early forties who owns and runs the general store, Bern's Quality Goods. The store deals in general merchandise such as clothing, housewares, and tools, as well as the occasional magic item Bern purchased from adventurers. Despite his reputation as a shrewd negotiator and gruff appearance, highlighted by his spitting habit, Bern has a streak of kindness for the local downtrodden. He will often sell on credit to the less fortunate and "forget" to collect the debt.
